A lip colour that leads the image
2 Min Read
Think about shape, finish and the colours surrounding a statement lip.
A statement lip is more than a shade. Its outline, texture and relationship to the rest of the face determine how it reads. A cherry red can feel graphic, intimate or theatrical depending on the decisions around it.
Start with the role
Decide whether the lip is the focal point or one part of a larger colour composition. If it leads, a quieter eye and carefully considered skin finish give it room. If the brief calls for several strong colours, use shape and scale to make their relationship deliberate.
Look at the reflection
A glossy finish catches small changes in light and angle; a softer finish lets colour and shape speak more evenly. Choose the finish with the image in mind and review it under the actual lighting. The same shade can feel quite different when its brightest reflection moves.
Connect the still life
Product imagery should belong to the same visual story as the beauty portrait. With HEAT, the cherry-red bullet becomes the colour anchor, while the surrounding material and shadow describe its form. Keep the product clearly readable, then use the set to support its character.
